Reading Festival 2005

The past five days (Thursday-Monday) have been spent at the Reading Festival, with Jon, Ash, Paul, Lawrence, Rebecca and Cat.

In short: Reading was awesome.

Long version: I have about 70 photos to upload and show you but I need to get them from disposable camera to Photo CD, and I have no money with which to do so. I have so little money, in fact, that I returned to find my mobile phone had been blocked by O2. (I contemplated putting a PayPal "donate" button here so I could get the photos up quicker, but I'd feel horrible if anyone actually donated so decided against it.)

Friday, I saw:
  • Do Me Bad Things (who I felt sorry for, because the sound cut out five seconds into their set)
  • Goldie Lookin Chain ("ShopMobility! Shop-ShopMobility!")
  • My Chemical Romance (who I wish I could've seen more of, but their set clashed with...)
  • Queens Of The Stone Age (again, who I wish I could've seen more of, but QOTSA clashed with...)
  • The Cooper Temple Clause (who were fucking awesome)
  • The Killers (didn't get to see Mr Brightside, though :()
  • The Pixies (but only a few moments, because I wanted to see...)
  • Kasabian ("John was a scientist, he was hooked on LSD, interested in mind control, and how the monkey held the key...")
Saturday, I saw:
  • The Editors ("People are fragile things, you should know by now, be careful what you put them through")
  • Nine Black Alps (wasn't sure what to expect, but they were pretty good)
  • The Others (who were pretty damned catchy!)
  • The All American Rejects (Aww. So emo. :P)
  • Clor (I'd never heard of them, but Cat said NME loved them, and I can sorta see why)
  • The Charlatans (who didn't really play anything I knew...)
  • Hot Hot Heat ("No, Not Now" is really good live)
  • Razorlight (Holy crap -- how long can you drag a song out for?! Having said that, "Golden Touch" was really good live)
  • Babyshambles (Pete was actually semicoherent! What the fuck?)
  • Foo Fighters ("Monkey Wrench" was incredible live, and Dave Grohl played the drums at Reading for the first time since he was in Nirvana...)
Sunday, I saw:
  • Alkaline Trio ("Private Eye" and "Stupid Kid" were so good with the crowd singing along!)
  • Funeral For A Friend (I wish I'd known more of their stuff, though)
  • Maximo Park (who weren't that great)
  • Incubus (again, hearing "Wish You Were" being sung by the crowd was really cool)
  • Marilyn Manson (who was damned impressive, despite being kicked off and made to do the last song from backstage)
  • Bloc Party (I really love "Banquet")
1 weekend, 25 bands. Wow.

Truth be told, I'm sad it's over, and I want to go back and do it again and again!

As soon as I have money to get the disposable cameras processed, I'll get the photos up, but yeah. It was awesome.

Edit: I missed out The Others.
